You need quality sources for this project. Start browsing the CDC here! Try university and government websites. Google your parasite with .edu or .gov. Use at least one source from a research database (below). Remember, the rubric requires FOUR sources for full credit!

Search its SCIENTIFIC NAME for the best results.

Details

Directions: Choose a parasite to thoroughly research. You will be responsible for a 2-page paper as well as a presentation for your chosen parasite. You may work alone or with ONE partner. Use this Google Doc to help you organize your research!

Follow the format below for your research paper:

Format: 

  • Give your paper a fun/interesting title
  • Make sure your name is on your paper
  • Please use Times New Roman size 12 font
  • Double-space your writing
  • Use headers for each paragraph for instance, paragraph one should be labeled “General Information”, paragraph two should be labeled “Background Information” and so on. 
  • Sources need to be completed using APA format (mybib) 

First Paragraph - General information on your parasite

  • What is its name?
  • Is it an endo or ecto parasite?
  • What does it look like? (is it a type of worm? Does it have legs? color?)
  • How does it move? 

Second Paragraph - Background information on your parasite

  • Where in the world is it found? 
  • Who does it infect? (certain animals or humans? Certain races?)
  • Morbidity and Mortality rate (use the CDC!)

Third Paragraph - Life cycle

  • Brief summary of the life cycle
  • Does your parasite have a host?
  • Include an image of your parasites life cycle

Fourth Paragraph - Infection

  • How might one get this parasite
  • Common signs and symptoms 
  • Diagnosis
  • Treatment 

Fifth Paragraph - Interesting or other facts/conclusion 

  • At least 2 facts
  • Conclusion
