Online access to American Journal of Nursing and Nursing is available through the links below.  


How to Access Databases from a mobile device:

For EBSCO databases, type in your browser then enter the login and password.

For Gale Group databases, get the free mobile app.  On your device, search for the app: access my library

  • Install the blue app and open it.  The app will read: AML.  
  • A library map will open. Access Resources. You will have a choice between Gale Databases and Gale eBooks.

For JSTOR, type jstor in your browser.  Use the login and password.

General Procedures for Using the Library

  • The library is available to Practical Nursing Students after 3:00 p.m.
  • Food and drink are not allowed.
  • The Library is an area for research, reading, independent study, and learning. Students are expected to respect the rights of others.
  • Small quiet rooms are only to be used with expressed permission of the instructor and will not exceed one person per room.  The door must be left open at all times and the tables sprayed with VitalOxide, left to sit for 10 minutes, then wiped up with a paper towel.

The Library has several databases for Nursing Program students. 

 EBSCO has a single search for both Nursing Databases! Scroll down to Nursing Specific Resources.
 Searches will produce results from CINAHL and MEDLINE.

CINAHL Plus: Full text for nursing and allied health journals included in the CINAHL index –covers biomedicine, health sciences,   alternative medicine, and more. (Contains Nursing 1981 to present: full-text and American Journal of Nursing 1981 to present: not full-text). 

Medline with Full TextFull-text for over a thousand journals indexed in MEDLINE. Cover-to-cover indexing.  Medical literature, biomedicine, health policy development and more.

Health & Wellness Resource Center from Gale: Journals, videos, pamphlets, and reference.  A place to begin for general knowledge about heath related topics. 
Nursing and Allied Health Collection from Gale: Covers all aspects of the nursing profession and includes articles related to the specialized care, treatment, and management of all sorts of patients..

Health Reference Center Academic: Access to over 2500 journals, books, and videos demonstrating medical procedures and live surgeries. HRCA ensures that researchers get current, scholarly, comprehensive answers to health-related questions.

‚ÄčJSTOR: Scholarly content, historical content, mostly full-text. The American Journal of Nursing is covered in full-text from 1900-2006.

MyBib is a citation manager that provides free citations for APA style.  You must use this style.  Create a Project, then Add a Citation.  Choose from website, book, journal, video, and more.  If citing on online journal article that provides a DOI number, click on Journal, and then copy and paste the DOI.  If citing a database article, click on More and then Write/Paste.

When you are ready to print your References page, click on Copy and Paste Bibliography.
